Ingredients

  • 4 pieces bone-in pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 quarter cup dried cranberries (or raisins)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

Directions

Step 1

Season the pork chops on both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Add the pork chops to the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the pork chops from the pan and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add butter and let it melt.

Step 5

Add sliced onion to the skillet and sauté until it becomes soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 6

Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 7

Add sliced apple and dried cranberries to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the apple softens slightly.

Step 8

Pour in chicken broth, balsamic vinegar, and honey. Stir well to combine.

Step 9

Sprinkle in ground cinnamon and fresh thyme leaves. Let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes.

Step 10

Return the pork chops to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce and fruit mixture over them.

Step 11

Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through to an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Step 12

Serve the pork chops warm, topped with the fruit and sauce. Pair with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
