Ingredients

  • 1 whole cantaloupe
  • 1 cup (hulled and quartered) strawberries
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup (halved) grapes (seedless)
  • 2 whole (peeled and diced) kiwi
  • 1 cup (diced) pineapple
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons (chopped, optional) fresh mint leaves

Directions

Step 1

Slice off a small portion of the cantaloupe’s base to allow it to sit flat on a surface. Be careful not to cut too deeply into the flesh.

Step 2

Using a marker or small knife, draw an outline of a basket handle on the top of the cantaloupe (leave about 1-2 inches of width for the handle).

Step 3

Carefully cut along the outline, removing the top two sections of the cantaloupe to create the basket shape. Ensure the handle remains intact.

Step 4

Scoop out the cantaloupe seeds and set them aside. Use a melon baller or spoon to scoop out the cantaloupe flesh, leaving about half an inch of flesh along the insides to keep the basket sturdy. Reserve the cantaloupe balls for the fruit salad.

Step 5

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cantaloupe balls, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, kiwi, and pineapple.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the orange juice and honey until well combined.

Step 7

Pour the orange-honey mixture over the fruit and gently toss to coat the fruit evenly.

Step 8

If desired, add chopped mint leaves to the fruit salad and mix gently.

Step 9

Carefully spoon the fruit salad into the cantaloupe basket, heaping it slightly over the top for an abundant presentation.

Step 10

Chill the basket in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes before serving.

Step 11

Serve the fruit salad in the cantaloupe basket as a centerpiece, and enjoy!
