Ingredients

  • 4 whole oranges
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 4 leaves fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Wash the oranges thoroughly under running water.

Step 2

Slice the top 1/4 off each orange and set the tops aside. Using a spoon, carefully scoop out the orange flesh, being careful not to puncture the skin. Transfer the flesh to a bowl and set the hollowed orange shells aside.

Step 3

Strain the orange flesh through a fine mesh strainer to extract the juice, discarding any seeds or pulp. Measure out 2 tablespoons of orange juice for the filling.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream using an electric mixer or whisk until soft peaks form.

Step 5

Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest to the whipped cream. Continue to beat until fully combined and the mixture is light and airy.

Step 6

Spoon the creamy mixture into the hollowed-out orange shells, filling them to the top.

Step 7

Place the tops of the oranges back on as lids and transfer the filled oranges to a tray or airtight container. Freeze for at least 4 hours or until completely firm.

Step 8

Before serving, let the frozen oranges sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to slightly soften. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Frozen Oranges!
