Ingredients

  • 12 cups water
  • 1 quarter cup Old Bay seasoning
  • 1.5 pounds red potatoes
  • 1 pound hot smoked sausage links (sliced into 1-inch pieces)
  • 4 ears fresh corn (shucked and cut into halves)
  • 1.5 pounds large raw shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails left on)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 whole lemon (cut into wedges)
  • 0 optional hot sauce (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a large stockpot, bring 12 cups of water and 1/4 cup of Old Bay seasoning to a rolling boil over high heat.

Step 2

Reduce the heat to medium-high and add the red potatoes. Cook for 10-12 minutes until they are just beginning to soften.

Step 3

Add the sliced hot smoked sausage and corn halves to the pot. Cook for an additional 8-10 minutes until the corn is tender.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to medium and add the shrimp. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through. Be careful not to overcook.

Step 5

Turn off the heat and drain the pot, reserving a small amount of the cooking liquid for added moisture, if desired.

Step 6

Transfer the cooked shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn to a large serving platter or spread them out on a newspaper-covered table for a family-style presentation.

Step 7

Melt the unsalted butter and drizzle it over the seafood and vegetables. Squeeze fresh lemon juice on top for brightness.

Step 8

Serve immediately with additional Old Bay seasoning, lemon wedges, and hot sauce on the side.
