Ingredients

  • 3 medium Russet potatoes
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 0.5 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley
  • 0.5 cup Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Peel the potatoes and shred them using a box grater. Place the shredded potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much moisture as possible.

Step 2

Shred the onion in the same manner and squeeze out its excess liquid too. Combine the shredded potatoes and onion in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3

Add the flour, egg, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika to the bowl. Mix until well combined.

Step 4

Chop the fresh parsley finely and fold it into the mixture.

Step 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. The oil should be hot enough to sizzle when a small piece of the mixture is added.

Step 6

Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the potato mixture into your hands and shape it into a patty. Repeat with the remaining mixture to form all patties.

Step 7

Carefully place a few patties in the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

Step 8

Transfer the cooked patties onto a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 9

Repeat with the remaining patties, adding more oil to the pan if necessary.

Step 10

Serve the patties hot, garnished with additional parsley or alongside a dipping sauce of your choice.
