Ingredients

  • 2 slices Bread
  • 1 slice Bologna
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 slice Cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Heat a skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add 1/2 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and let it melt.

Step 3

Place the slice of bologna in the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until it curls up and develops a golden-brown edge. Remove and set aside.

Step 4

Add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of butter to the same skillet. Crack the egg into the skillet and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Cook the egg to your preferred doneness (sunny side up, over-easy, or fully cooked). Remove and set aside.

Step 5

Warm the bread slices in the skillet for 30 seconds per side or until lightly toasted.

Step 6

Assemble the sandwich: Spread mayonnaise on one side of one bread slice (if using). Layer the fried bologna, fried egg, and cheese slice. Top with the second slice of bread to close the sandwich.

Step 7

Optional: For a more melty and cohesive sandwich, return the assembled sandwich to the skillet over low heat. Cover and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until the cheese melts.

Step 8

Remove the sandwich from the skillet, cut in half if desired, and serve warm.
