Chop the mixed dried fruit into small, bite-sized pieces. Place the chopped fruit in a bowl and pour the hot black tea over it. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes to rehydrate, then drain and set the fruit aside.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a loaf pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, baking powder, and salt. Stir the dry ingredients together until evenly mixed.
In a separate bowl, lightly beat the eggs. Pour the beaten eggs into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Add the drained dried fruit and chopped nuts to the batter. Gently fold them in until evenly distributed. The batter will be thick.
Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with the back of a spoon or a spatula.
