Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 1.25 cups Warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil (for greasing)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1.5 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and active dry yeast.

Step 2

Add the warm water to the dry ingredients and beat with a hand mixer or wooden spoon until smooth.

Step 3

Stir in the melted butter, chopped parsley, chives, thyme, and rosemary. Blend well to distribute the herbs evenly.

Step 4

Gradually add the remaining 1.5 cups of flour, a little at a time, mixing until a thick and sticky batter forms.

Step 5

Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the batter rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes or until it doubles in size.

Step 6

Grease a 9-inch round or 8x4-inch loaf pan with vegetable oil or nonstick spray.

Step 7

Once the batter has risen, stir it down gently to remove air bubbles, then pour it into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 8

Brush the top of the batter with the beaten egg to give the bread a golden, glossy finish.

Step 9

Let the batter rest in the pan for another 15 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 10

Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 11

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 12

Slice and serve as desired. Enjoy your herb-infused batter bread!
