Ingredients

  • 6 pieces chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 0.5 cups orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 4 pieces garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 4 slices orange slices

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2

Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and set aside.

Step 3

In a small bowl, whisk together orange juice, lime juice, honey, minced garlic, orange zest, lime zest, ground cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Place the chicken thighs skin-side down in the skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes until the skin is golden and crispy. Flip and cook the other side for 2 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to medium and pour the citrus mixture into the skillet. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally to deglaze the pan and incorporate any browned bits.

Step 7

Return the chicken thighs to the skillet, skin-side up. Spoon some of the sauce over the chicken, then add the orange slices around the skillet for garnish and additional flavor.

Step 8

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Step 9

Once done, remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes.

Step 10

Garnish the dish with freshly chopped cilantro and serve the chicken with the citrus sauce spooned over the top. It pairs beautifully with rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
