Ingredients

  • 6 pieces boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 0.75 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 12 ounces egg noodles (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Season the chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika on both sides.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Add the chicken thighs and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining olive oil and butter.

Step 5

Sauté the chopped onion for 4-5 minutes until softened, then add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 6

Stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika and cook for 30 seconds to bloom the flavor.

Step 7

Add the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer.

Step 8

Return the chicken thighs to the skillet. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

Step 9

In a small bowl, mix the sour cream with the flour until smooth. Slowly whisk this mixture into the skillet to thicken the sauce.

Step 10

Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce is rich and creamy.

Step 11

Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and toss with a little butter, if desired.

Step 12

Serve the chicken and paprika sauce over the egg noodles. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley, if using.

Step 13

Enjoy your Family Pleasing Chicken Paprika!
