Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
  • 0.5 cups Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 6 slices Cheese slices
  • 6 Burger buns
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 6 Lettuce leaves
  • 6 Tomato slices
  • 12 Pickle slices
  • 0 optional Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

Step 2

Use clean hands to gently mix the ingredients until they are just combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the burgers tough.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾-inch thick.

Step 4

Use your thumb to make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

Step 5

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil to coat the surface.

Step 6

Once the pan is hot, place the patties in the pan (avoid overcrowding). Cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side or until a good crust forms.

Step 7

Flip the patties carefully with a spatula and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until an internal temperature of 160°F is reached for well-done burgers.

Step 8

If using cheese, place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover with a lid to melt.

Step 9

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

Step 10

Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on the bottom half of a bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, pickle slices, and your favorite condiments. Finish with the top half of the bun.

Step 11

Serve immediately with fries, chips, or your favorite side dish. Enjoy!
