Ingredients

  • 0.25 cup warm water
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter over low heat until the butter melts. Ensure the mixture is warm but not hot.

Step 3

Add the warm milk-butter mixture to the yeast mixture along with the salt. Stir to combine.

Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing with a wooden spoon or hand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Continue until the dough forms a soft and slightly sticky ball.
