Ingredients

  • 500 g Ground beef
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 0.5 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 0.25 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.33 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup Pineapple juice
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, finely chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly combined.

Step 3

Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4

Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until they are fully cooked and browned on the outside.

Step 5

While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sweet and sour sauce. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, and pineapple juice. Stir well to combine.

Step 6

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly add this to the saucepan, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

Step 7

Cook the sauce for 5-7 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency. Remove it from the heat.

Step 8

Once the meatballs are done baking, transfer them to a large skillet or saucepan. Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the meatballs and gently stir to coat them evenly.

Step 9

Simmer the meatballs in the sauce over low heat for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 10

Serve the sweet and sour meatballs hot over steamed rice, mashed potatoes, or alongside roasted vegetables. Enjoy!
