Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Russet potatoes
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup Whole milk
  • 2 large Garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks, about 2 inches each, to ensure even cooking.

Step 2

Fill a large pot with water and add the potato chunks. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water.

Step 3

Peel the garlic cloves and add them whole to the pot with the potatoes.

Step 4

Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cook the potatoes for 15-20 minutes, or until a fork easily pierces through them.

Step 5

While the potatoes cook, warm the heavy cream and whole milk in a small saucepan over low heat. Do not let it boil.

Step 6

Drain the potatoes and garlic thoroughly, then return them to the pot to dry slightly over low heat for about 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

Mash the potatoes and garlic together using a potato masher, ricer, or electric mixer, depending on your desired texture.

Step 8

Add the butter to the mashed potatoes, stirring until melted and fully incorporated.

Step 9

Slowly pour in the warm cream and milk mixture, stirring constantly, until the potatoes reach your preferred consistency.

Step 10

Season the mashed potatoes with salt and ground black pepper to taste.

Step 11

Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish and garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired. Serve immediately.
