Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup (for the glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar (for the glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (for the glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let the breadcrumbs soak for 2-3 minutes to soften.

Step 3

Add the ground beef, eggs, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper to the soaked breadcrumbs. Mix everything together with your hands or a large spoon until well combined. Do not overmix to avoid a dense meatloaf.

Step 4

Shape the meat mixture into a loaf form on the prepared baking sheet, approximately 9 inches by 5 inches in size.

Step 5

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. This will be the glaze for the meatloaf.

Step 6

Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top and sides of the meatloaf, reserving the other half for later.

Step 7

Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes. Remove from the oven, spread the remaining glaze on top, and return to the oven for an additional 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 8

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Resting helps the juices redistribute for a more flavorful and moist meatloaf.

Step 9

Slice and serve warm with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, green beans, or a fresh salad.
