Ingredients

  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients from the medium bowl into the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 6

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) with a spatula until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Step 7

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.

Step 9

Remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheets for 2-3 minutes. Then transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Serve warm or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Enjoy Eric's Favorite Chocolate Chippers with a cold glass of milk!
