Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Green tea leaves or loose-leaf Chinese gunpowder tea
  • 1 cup Fresh mint leaves
  • 0.25 cup Sugar
  • 4 cups Boiling water

Directions

Step 1

In a teapot, add 2 tablespoons of green tea leaves or loose-leaf Chinese gunpowder tea.

Step 2

Pour about 1/2 cup of boiling water into the teapot and swirl it around for 30 seconds to rinse the tea leaves. Carefully discard the water, leaving the rinsed tea leaves in the pot.

Step 3

Add 1 cup of fresh mint leaves to the teapot, pressing them down slightly with a wooden spoon to release their flavor.

Step 4

Add 1/4 cup of sugar (or adjust to taste) to the teapot.

Step 5

Pour 4 cups of boiling water over the tea leaves, mint, and sugar in the pot.

Step 6

Gently stir to dissolve the sugar but try to avoid over-agitating the tea leaves.

Step 7

Let the tea steep for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Step 8

Traditionally, Moroccan tea is aerated by pouring it from a height into glasses. Carefully pour the tea into serving glasses from a height of about 12–18 inches to create a frothy top.

Step 9

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your aromatic Moroccan mint tea!
