Ingredients

  • 3 cups Mixed nuts (almonds, pecans, cashews, walnuts, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Packed brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons Kosher salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

Place the mixed nuts in a large mixing bowl and set aside.

Step 3

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar, kosher salt, ground cumin, ground cinnamon, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and water. Stir the mixture until the sugar fully dissolves and the ingredients are well combined. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Pour the spiced butter mixture over the nuts in the bowl. Use a spatula to toss the nuts thoroughly until they are evenly coated with the spiced mixture.

Step 5

Spread the coated nuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the nuts are fragrant and lightly toasted. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.

Step 7

Remove the nuts from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool.

Step 8

Once cooled, transfer the nuts to an airtight container for storage or serve immediately.
