Ingredients

  • 120 grams All-purpose flour
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 50 grams Unsalted butter
  • 60 grams White sesame seeds
  • 1 large Egg
  • 30 grams Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Step 4

Add the egg to the butter mixture and beat until well combined. Blend in the honey and vanilla extract.

Step 5

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.

Step 6

Stir in the sesame seeds evenly throughout the dough.

Step 7

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 2-3 mm (very thin).

Step 8

Using a small round cookie cutter or a knife, cut the dough into your desired shapes. Transfer the shapes to the prepared baking sheets, leaving a little space between each piece.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for about 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and allow the sesame thins to cool completely on the baking sheets. They will crisp up as they cool.

Step 11

Store the sesame thins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Enjoy as a snack or serve with tea!
