Ingredients

  • 500 grams pork loin or pork chops
  • 1 cup white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 3 pieces garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 pieces scallions, sliced (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the white rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice and 2 cups of water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.

Step 2

Once the water reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is fully absorbed. Set aside and leave covered to keep warm.

Step 3

Cut the pork into thin strips or bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and black pepper evenly.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Set the sauce aside.

Step 5

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the seasoned pork pieces in a single layer. Sauté for 3-4 minutes per side until the pork is browned and fully cooked.

Step 6

Once the pork is cooked through, pour the prepared soy sauce mixture over the pork in the skillet. Stir well to coat the pork in the sauce and let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the sautéed pork over a bed of cooked white rice in individual bowls or on plates.

Step 8

Garnish with sliced scallions on top, and enjoy!
