Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Beef steaks (sirloin or ribeye, about 1 inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 0.5 cups Heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and rub them with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Season both sides of each steak with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Step 3

Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Step 4

Once the skillet is hot, sear the steaks for 2 minutes on each side until a golden crust forms. Remove the skillet from the heat.

Step 5

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 6-10 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness (6 minutes for medium-rare, 10 minutes for well done). Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature: 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare, 145°F (63°C) for medium.

Step 6

Remove the skillet from the oven and transfer the steaks to a plate. Loosely cover them with aluminum foil and let them rest while you make the gravy.

Step 7

In the same skillet (wipe out excess grease if necessary), melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, to create a roux.

Step 8

Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps. Stir in the tomato paste and let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes, thickening slightly.

Step 9

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring often, until the gravy is smooth and creamy. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 10

Serve the steaks on plates and generously spoon the creamy tomato gravy on top. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a burst of color and flavor.

Step 11

Enjoy your delicious oven steak with creamy tomato gravy!
