Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound ground pork
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup (finely chopped) onion
  • 2 cloves (minced) garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Step 3

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions.

Step 4

Press half of the meat mixture into the loaf pan, spreading it evenly to form the first layer.

Step 5

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the first layer of meat, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent the cheese from oozing out.

Step 6

Top with the remaining meat mixture, pressing gently to seal the edges and encase the cheese layer.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to create the glaze.

Step 8

Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meat loaf.

Step 9

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reads 160°F (70°C) on a meat thermometer.

Step 10

Remove the meat loaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 11

Serve warm and enjoy!
