Ingredients

  • 1 pound Deli-sliced roast beef
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese slices
  • 4 Hoagie rolls or French rolls
  • 4 cups Unsalted beef broth
  • 1 packet Onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the beef broth, onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Lower the heat and let it simmer gently while you prepare the sandwiches.

Step 3

Cut the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise. Spread a thin layer of butter on the cut sides of each roll and place them on a baking sheet, buttered sides up.

Step 4

Toast the rolls in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until lightly golden and crisp.

Step 5

Remove the rolls from the oven and layer the bottom half of each roll with slices of roast beef (about 1/4 pound per sandwich) and 2 slices of Swiss cheese.

Step 6

Return the sandwiches (open-faced) to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 7

Carefully remove the sandwiches from the oven and place the top half of each roll onto the melted cheese and beef.

Step 8

Strain the warm au jus mixture into small bowls for dipping and serve alongside the sandwiches.

Step 9

Enjoy your Easy French Dip Sandwiches while warm with a generous dip into the au jus!
