Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup Shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 0.75 cups Whole milk, cold
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
  • 0.5 teaspoons Garlic powder (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.

Step 3

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Be sure to keep the butter cold throughout this process.

Step 4

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Step 5

Pour in the cold milk and stir just until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, drop mounds of dough (about 1/4 cup each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a couple of inches apart.

Step 7

Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they're golden brown and firm to the touch.

Step 8

While the biscuits are baking, combine the melted butter and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder in a small bowl.

Step 9

Once the biscuits are done baking, remove them from the oven and immediately brush the tops with the melted garlic butter mixture.

Step 10

Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
