Ingredients

  • 1 cup White or brown rice
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 pinch Salt (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Sweetener of choice (e.g., maple syrup, honey, or sugar; optional)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold running water to remove excess starch.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the rice and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 20 minutes (white rice) or 30 minutes (brown rice), until the rice is soft and cooked through.

Step 3

Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the cooked rice to cool to room temperature for about 10 minutes.

Step 4

Transfer the cooled cooked rice into a blender. Add the remaining 2 cups of water. If using, also add the pinch of salt, vanilla extract, and sweetener of your choice.
