Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered gelatin
  • 2 tablespoons Cold water
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 4 large Egg yolks

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, sprinkle the powdered gelatin over 2 tablespoons of cold water. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.

Step 2

In a saucepan, whisk together the milk, granulated sugar, and egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Do not let it boil.

Step 3

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the bloomed gelatin until completely dissolved.

Add the vanilla extract and mix well. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally to prevent a skin from forming.

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
