Ingredients

  • 250 grams Ground beef
  • 250 grams Ground pork
  • 50 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground pepper
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg
  • 8 slices Bacon strips
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 100 ml Water

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, ground pepper, and nutmeg. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 2

Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a small, oval sausage shape.

Step 3

Wrap each meat oval with a slice of bacon, ensuring the ends of the bacon overlap slightly to keep the meat enclosed.

Step 4

Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat until melted and sizzling.

Step 5

Carefully place the slavinken into the skillet, seam side down, to prevent the bacon from unraveling.

Step 6

Brown the slavinken on all sides for about 5–7 minutes, rotating gently to ensure even cooking.

Step 7

Once browned, add water to the skillet, cover with a lid, and reduce the heat to low.

Step 8

Simmer the slavinken for another 10–12 minutes until cooked through and juicy. Check that the internal temperature reaches at least 70°C (160°F).

Step 9

Remove the slavinken from the skillet, letting any excess liquid drain slightly before serving.

Step 10

Serve hot with traditional Dutch sides like mashed potatoes, vegetables, or gravy.
