Ingredients

  • 4 pieces pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 large apple, cored and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Season the pork chops with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Step 2

Lightly dredge the pork chops in the all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess.

Step 3

Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until melted and combined.

Step 4

Add the pork chops to the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove the pork chops and set them aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.

Step 6

Stir in the sliced apple and cook for another 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften.

Step 7

Deglaze the skillet by adding the apple cider vinegar, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.

Step 8

Stir in the chicken broth, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 9

Return the seared pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the onion and apple mixture.

Step 10

Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let everything simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the pork chops are fully cooked and reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Step 11

Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and pepper, if needed.

Step 12

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve hot.
