Ingredients

  • 500 g Ground beef
  • 250 g Ground pork
  • 2 slices White bread
  • 60 ml Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 2 minced Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp, chopped Parsley
  • 2 tsp Mustard
  • 0.25 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 60 g Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp, for greasing the pan Butter
  • 4 tbsp, for topping Tomato ketchup

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a loaf pan with butter and set aside.

Step 2

Place the slices of white bread in a small bowl and pour the milk over them. Let the bread soak for 5 minutes, then squeeze out any excess liquid and crumble the bread into small pieces.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, soaked bread, egg, onion, garlic, parsley, mustard, nutmeg, salt, black pepper, and breadcrumbs. Mix well with your hands until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 4

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing it down firmly to form an even shape.

Step 5

Spread the tomato ketchup evenly over the top of the meat mixture as a glaze.

Step 6

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60 minutes or until the meatloaf is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 70°C (160°F).

Step 7

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, making it easier to slice.

Step 8

Slice the meatloaf and serve warm. It pairs well with mashed potatoes, gravy, or steamed vegetables.
