Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.75 cups Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar, packed
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 2 cups Apples, peeled and diced (about 2 medium apples)
  • 0.5 cups Homemade caramel sauce (or store-bought if preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large bowl, using a hand mixer or stand mixer, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Step 6

Fold in the diced apples gently using a spatula to ensure they're evenly distributed in the batter.

Step 7

Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter, using a knife to swirl it gently into the cake mix. Pour the remaining batter over the top and repeat with the remaining caramel sauce, swirling again lightly.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Optional: Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar for a beautiful finishing touch.

Step 10

Serve slightly warm or at room temperature. Pair with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired!
