Ingredients

  • 200 g Unsalted butter
  • 300 g Granulated sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 150 g All-purpose flour
  • 50 g Cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 200 g Dark chocolate (chopped)
  • 200 ml Heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp Powdered sugar (for garnish, optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a 9-inch (23 cm) round springform pan with parchment paper. Grease the sides for easy release.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until fully combined.

Step 3

Allow the butter-sugar mixture to cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs one at a time until smooth.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt.

Step 5

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula. Stir until just combined, then add the vanilla extract.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft. Insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out with moist crumbs.

Step 8

Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Step 9

To prepare the chocolate topping, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer (do not let it boil).

Step 10

Pour the hot cream over the chopped dark chocolate in a medium bowl. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes, then whisk until smooth and glossy.

Step 11

Once the cake has cooled, pour the chocolate topping over the cake. Use a spatula to spread it evenly. Let it set at room temperature or refrigerate for faster results.

Step 12

Optionally, dust powdered sugar over the top for garnish before serving.

Step 13

Slice and serve your Dromtarta Swedish Chocolate Dream Cake. Enjoy!
