  • 1 cup Dried figs
  • 0.5 cup Raisins
  • 2 large Fresh apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 2 large Fresh pears (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 2 cups Orange juice
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

Begin by preparing your dried fruits. Chop the dried apricots and figs into bite-sized pieces to ensure even cooking.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the dried apricots, dried figs, raisins, orange juice, and water.

Step 3

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Step 4

Add the peeled, cored, and diced apples and pears to the saucepan.

Step 5

Stir in the honey, cinnamon stick, and ground nutmeg.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer gently for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the dried fruits are plump and the fresh fruits are tender but not mushy.

Step 7

Remove from the heat, discard the cinnamon stick, and stir in the lemon juice and vanilla extract.

Step 8

Allow the compote to cool slightly before serving. It can be served warm, at room temperature, or chilled.

Step 9

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
