Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water, cold
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, sriracha, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Set aside.

Step 3

In another small bowl, mix the cornstarch and cold water until smooth. Set aside.

Step 4

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.

Once hot, add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 6

Lower the heat to medium and pour the prepared orange sauce into the skillet. Allow it to come to a gentle simmer.

Step 7

Stir the cornstarch mixture into the sauce and cook for 1–2 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Step 8

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 1–2 minutes until heated through.

Step 9

Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

Step 10

Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
