Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground bison
  • 1 pound Ground pork
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 4 pieces Burger buns
  • 4 leaves Lettuce
  • 4 slices Sliced tomato
  • 4 rings Sliced red onion
  • 4 slices Cheese (optional)
  • 0 Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground bison, ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.

Step 2

Mix the ingredients together gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix to avoid dense burgers.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about 1 inch thick. Use your thumb to create a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Step 4

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for well-done burgers. If using cheese, add a slice to each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.

Step 6

Meanwhile, toast the burger buns on the grill for about 30 seconds until lightly golden.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, then adding the cooked patty. Top with a tomato slice, red onion ring, and any desired condiments.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite sides!
