Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 cups green cabbage
  • 1 cup carrots, shredded
  • 3 stalks green onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 12 sheets egg roll wrappers
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3 cups vegetable oil, for frying

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground pork until browned and fully cooked. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Once done, drain any excess grease and set the pork aside.

Step 2

In the same skillet, add shredded cabbage, carrots, and green onions. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for 1 more minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Return the cooked pork to the skillet and add soy sauce and sesame oil. Stir until everything is well combined and heated through. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.

Step 5

On a clean surface, lay out an egg roll wrapper in a diamond shape (one corner pointed toward you). Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling mixture in the center of the wrapper.

Step 6

Fold the bottom corner of the wrapper up over the filling, then fold in the sides tightly. Roll up toward the top corner, brushing the edges with a little beaten egg to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 7

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place 2-3 egg rolls into the hot oil at a time, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

Step 8

Remove the fried egg rolls with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 9

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or soy sauce.
