Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 2 pieces Burger buns
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 4 leaves Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 0.5 medium Red onion
  • 8 slices Pickle slices
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons Mustard

Directions

Step 1

Divide the ground beef into four equal portions (about 4 oz each) and shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 2

Season each patty generously on both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the beef patties on the grill or skillet.

Step 4

Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip them over.

Step 5

Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty, and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until the patties are cooked to the desired doneness and the cheese is melted.

Step 6

While the patties are cooking, butter the insides of the burger buns and toast on a separate skillet or on the grill until golden brown.

Step 7

Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into thick slices, and slice the red onion thinly.

Step 8

To assemble, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun, followed by 2 tablespoons of ketchup and 1 teaspoon of mustard.

Step 9

Layer 2 lettuce leaves, 1 or 2 slices of tomato, and slices of red onion on the bottom bun.

Step 10

Place two patties on top of the vegetables, then add pickle slices.

Step 11

Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 12

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade double patty burger!
