Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 packet Taco seasoning
  • 0.67 cup Water
  • 1 can Refried beans
  • 8 pieces Soft flour tortillas
  • 8 pieces Crunchy taco shells
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup Diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 0 Hot sauce (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it's browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.

Step 2

Add the taco seasoning packet and 2/3 cup of water to the cooked beef. Stir well and let simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 3

Warm the refried beans in a small saucepan over low heat or microwave them in a microwave-safe bowl until hot and spreadable. Stir to ensure smooth consistency.

Step 4

Heat the soft tortillas and crunchy taco shells according to package instructions. This usually involves microwaving the tortillas for 20-30 seconds and warming the shells in the oven for a few minutes.

Step 5

To assemble the double decker tacos, spread a thin layer of refried beans over one side of a soft tortilla. Place a crunchy taco shell in the center of the tortilla, then gently press so the beans act like glue, securing the tortilla to the shell.

Step 6

Fill the crunchy taco shell with a few spoonfuls of the seasoned ground beef, followed by shredded cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream. Add hot sauce if desired.

Step 7

Repeat the process for the remaining tacos. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious double decker tacos!
