Ingredients

  • 113 grams unsalted butter
  • 150 grams granulated sugar
  • 100 grams brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 190 grams all-purpose flour
  • 35 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 200 grams semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 100 grams milk chocolate chunks

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a 9x9-inch (23x23 cm) baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it for easy removal of the cookie bars.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, transfer to a mixing bowl and let it cool slightly.

Step 3

To the melted butter, add the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Step 4

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 6

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until no streaks of flour remain.

Step 7

Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chunks until evenly distributed.

Step 8

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan using a spatula.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 22-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Step 10

Remove the pan from the oven and let the cookie bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Step 11

Once cooled, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper and cut them into 12 equal squares or larger bars as desired.

Step 12

Serve and enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
