Ingredients

  • 3 pieces ripe bananas
  • 150 grams granulated sugar
  • 50 grams light brown sugar
  • 75 grams unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 pieces large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 190 grams all-purpose flour
  • 30 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 150 grams semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9x5-inch (23x13 cm) loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. You can use a fork or a potato masher for this step.

Step 3

Add granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and melted butter to the mashed bananas. Mix until well combined.

Step 4

Whisk in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in vanilla extract.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.

Step 7

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, reserving a small handful to sprinkle on top if desired.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top for an added chocolatey finish.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs attached.

Step 10

Remove the banana bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
