Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1 cup silver tequila
  • 0.5 cup orange liqueur (like triple sec or Cointreau)
  • 0.5 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 0.25 cup simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 0.5 cup ice cold water
  • 0.25 cup kosher salt or sugar (for glass rim, optional)
  • 4 pieces lime wedges (for garnish)
  • 4 pieces fresh berries (strawberries or raspberries, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure the bowl is frozen solid, if applicable.

Step 2

In a blender, combine the strawberries, raspberries, silver tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup, and cold water. Blend until smooth.

Step 3

Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup if desired.

Step 4

Pour the berry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or pitcher to remove seeds, pressing gently with a spatula to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.

Step 5

Transfer the strained liquid to the prepared ice cream maker. Churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until the mixture reaches a slushy consistency, about 20 minutes.

Step 6

If desired, rim the glasses with salt or sugar. To do this, run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip the rims into a plate of kosher salt or sugar.

Step 7

Spoon the slushy margarita mixture into the prepared glasses.

Step 8

Garnish with a lime wedge and fresh berries, and serve immediately.
