Ingredients

  • 0.25 cups Warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Melted butter (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly and frothy.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter over medium heat until the butter is just melted. Let the mixture cool until lukewarm.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, add the yeast mixture, lukewarm milk and butter mixture, egg, salt, and 2 cups of the flour. Mix until well combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the remaining 2 cups of flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 7

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a smooth ball and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, evenly spaced.

Step 8

Cover the rolls with the kitchen towel and let them rise again for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.

Step 9

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 10

Bake the dinner rolls for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Step 11

Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter for a glossy finish.

Step 12

Serve warm and enjoy!
