Ingredients

  • 1 cup Milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 3 drops Liquid food coloring (optional)
  • 2 pounds Dry ice (food grade)
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar is fully dissolved.

Step 2

If you would like to create colored Dipping Dots, divide the mixture into separate bowls and add a few drops of food coloring to each. Stir well to distribute the color evenly.

Step 3

Prepare the dry ice by wearing gloves and carefully crushing it into a fine powder using a hammer or mallet, inside a heavy-duty plastic bag. Be cautious while handling as direct contact with skin can cause burns.

Step 4

Place the crushed dry ice into a large metal bowl. Ensure there is good ventilation in your workspace.

Step 5

Attach a squeeze bottle or piping bag with a small round tip. Fill the bottle or bag with the prepared liquid mixture.

Step 6

Carefully squeeze small droplets of the mixture into the bowl of dry ice. The droplets will instantly freeze and form into small beads.

Step 7

Using a slotted spoon, gently scoop out the frozen Dipping Dots. Dust them lightly with cornstarch to prevent sticking.

Step 8

Transfer the Dipping Dots to an airtight container and store them in the freezer until ready to serve.

Step 9

Serve immediately in small bowls or cups and enjoy!
