Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 packet Instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 cup Chicken breast, cooked and shredded
  • 1 small Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup Bell pepper, diced
  • 0.5 cup Frozen peas and corn mix
  • 0.5 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 large Egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon Water

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, warm the milk and 3 tablespoons of butter over low heat until the butter melts. Let it cool until lukewarm.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.

Step 3

Add the lukewarm milk mixture and the egg to the dry ingredients, then mix until a dough forms.

Step 4

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes, gradually adding the remaining 0.5 cup of flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 5

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 6

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened.

Step 7

Stir in the bell pepper, frozen peas, and corn, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the shredded chicken, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Step 8

Remove the skillet from heat and let the filling cool for 5 minutes, then stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese.

Step 9

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 10

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Flatten each portion into a disc and place a spoonful of filling in the center.

Step 11

Carefully bring the edges of the dough together, pinching them to seal the filling inside. Roll the stuffed dough into a smooth ball and place it seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 12

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the buns with the mixture.

Step 13

Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Step 14

Brush the freshly baked buns with the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter for extra flavor.

Step 15

Let the buns cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm as a complete dinner!
