Ingredients

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 tbsp parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 0.25 cup white wine (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the shrimp under cold running water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Step 2

In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant but not browned.

Step 4

If using, pour in the white wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.

Step 5

Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes, until pink and fully cooked. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low and stir in Dijon mustard, heavy cream, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.

Step 7

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat them evenly in the sauce. Allow them to warm through for 1-2 minutes.

Step 8

Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the top and serve immediately with your choice of side dish, such as rice, pasta, or crusty bread.
