Ingredients

  • 2 cups Ketchup
  • 1 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Molasses
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Liquid smoke
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, and molasses. Stir well to blend the ingredients.

Step 2

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Step 3

Add the Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper, cayenne pepper, liquid smoke, and salt. Stir until fully incorporated.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently for about 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary. For more sweetness, add a bit more honey or brown sugar. For extra heat, increase the cayenne pepper slightly.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.

Step 7

Transfer the cooled BBQ sauce to an airtight container or mason jar and refrigerate. The flavors will deepen and blend over time.

Step 8

Use as a basting sauce for grilled meats, a dipping sauce, or a marinade. Enjoy!
