Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Wash, peel, and dice the potatoes into 1/2-inch cubes. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Step 2

Mince the garlic cloves and thinly slice the green onions. Set them aside for later use.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves to create the sauce.

Step 4

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.

Step 5

Add the diced potatoes to the skillet. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper, and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are golden brown and tender.

Step 6

Lower the heat slightly and add the minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring to prevent it from burning.

Step 7

Pour the soy sauce mixture over the potatoes. Stir well to coat the potatoes evenly, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the potatoes.

Step 8

Remove the skillet from heat and garnish the dish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Step 9

Serve warm as a side dish or with steamed rice for a complete meal.
