Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1.25 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 cup Optional mix-ins (chopped nuts, chocolate chunks, etc.)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy brownie removal.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove the pan from heat and stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until smooth and fully melted.

Step 3

Whisk in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined. Let the mixture cool slightly to avoid scrambling the eggs in the next step.

Step 4

One at a time, whisk in the eggs until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, taking care not to overmix.

Step 6

If using mix-ins like nuts or chocolate chunks, gently fold them into the batter at this stage.

Step 7

Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 28-32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.

Step 9

Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool completely in the pan set on a wire rack.

Step 10

Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan. Cut into 12 squares and serve. Enjoy!
