Ingredients

  • 28 oz Canned baked beans
  • 16 oz Sauerkraut
  • 6 slices Bacon
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

Drain the sauerkraut and set it aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces.

Step 4

Using the same skillet with the bacon drippings, sauté the chopped onion over medium heat for 5–7 minutes or until softened and slightly caramelized.

Step 5

In a large mixing bowl, combine the baked beans, sauerkraut, cooked onions, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

Step 6

Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Step 7

Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the top of the bean mixture.

Step 8

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Step 9

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to allow the top to slightly caramelize.

Step 10

Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
