Ingredients

  • 200 grams Unsalted butter
  • 300 grams Dark brown sugar
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 2 pieces Large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 320 grams All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 120 grams Optional: Semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped nuts

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, dark brown sugar, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Step 3

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

Step 5

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

If you're using optional ingredients like chocolate chips or nuts, gently fold them into the dough.

Step 7

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 5 cm (2 inches) apart to allow for spreading.

Step 8

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers still appear soft.

Step 9

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week—if they last that long!
