Ingredients

  • 8 pieces Large mushrooms
  • 50 grams Unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 150 milliliters Whole milk
  • 50 milliliters Heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 4 slices Fresh bread, toasted

Directions

Step 1

Clean the mushrooms thoroughly using a damp paper towel to remove any dirt. Remove the stems if desired.

Step 2

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the mushrooms to the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden and tender. Remove the mushrooms and set them aside.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low and, in the same skillet, add the flour to the melted butter, whisking constantly to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is golden and smooth.

Step 5

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Simmer the mixture for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Step 6

Stir in the heavy cream, chopped parsley, chives, salt, and pepper. Simmer for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.

Step 7

Return the mushrooms to the skillet and stir to coat them evenly in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, making sure the mushrooms are warmed through.

Step 8

Toast the bread slices until golden and crispy.

Step 9

Serve the creamy mushrooms over the toasted bread slices, garnished with additional parsley or chives if desired.
